June: Holidays + social media ideas

Summer is almost here, your audience is distracted, and your content calendar might be melting faster than a popsicle on a sidewalk. But don’t worry — we’ve got you.

June is full of easy wins when it comes to social media. If you want to make your followers laugh (see: National Cheese Day), reflect (see: Juneteenth), or just remember to eat lunch like a functioning adult (looking at you, Take Back the Lunch Break Day), there’s a holiday here that can help your brand show up in a relevant, human way.

BUT, you also don’t want to post about a holiday without relating it back to your brand (e.g. a religious organization randomly posting “Happy National Coconut Day” on June 26 [yeah, it’s real]). To help you out, we’ve compiled this blog post with ideas for specific industries to relate each holiday back to their brand, mission, or values. Check it out:

June 1: Global Day of Parents

For education or childcare professionals:
Post a heartfelt tribute to the parents who support kids’ learning journeys. Include a quote or thank-you message from your staff.

For any brand:
Highlight how your team balances parenthood and work. Feature team members who are parents and share their favorite parenting hacks.

June 2: National Leave the Office Early Day

For corporate or HR consulting:
Share tips on creating a healthy work-life balance and how early leave policies can boost morale.

For fitness or wellness brands:
Encourage followers to use that extra hour for a self-care routine — like a walk, a yoga class, or just unplugging.

June 4: National Cheese Day

For restaurants or food-based businesses:
Feature your cheesiest dish, snack board, or new menu item. Or try a limited-time offer or customer poll: "Which cheese reigns supreme?"

For personal brands or coaches:
Share your favorite “cheesy” motivational quote and own it with confidence and humor.

June 5: World Environment Day

For eco-conscious product brands:
Highlight a sustainable product or packaging choice and invite your followers to make a green swap with you.

For real estate or home services:
Share eco-friendly home tips like switching to LED bulbs, composting, or planting native landscaping.

June 7: World Food Safety Day

For hospitality or catering businesses:
Pull back the curtain and share a behind-the-scenes look at your food safety protocols to build trust with your audience.

June 15: Father’s Day (U.S.)

For any brand:
Feature a team member who’s a father — or share pictures of every father who works for your business. Or share a father/child duo who works together in your company.

For finance or insurance professionals:
Offer advice for dads planning for their family’s future — think legacy, savings, or college funds.

June 19: Juneteenth

For nonprofits or educators:
Share a historical fact, video, or recommended resource to promote understanding of the significance of Juneteenth.

For brands or businesses committed to DEI:
Feature a Black-owned business you support or collaborate with, and encourage others to do the same.

June 20: Take Your Dog to Work Day

For remote teams:
Ask your employees to share pictures of their “co-woofers” working from home. Create a carousel or collage of everyone’s furry friends.

For pet-friendly offices:
Host a “cutest dog in the office” contest to drive engagement and celebrate your four-legged employees (be sure to include fake, punny job titles for each pup).

June 24: National Take Back the Lunch Break Day

For any brand:
This goes beyond the content, but see if you can organize a paid lunch for each employee on this day and ask that they send in a selfie to be shared on social media.

For mental health professionals:
Talk about the importance of breaks for brain function, digestion, and mental health. Offer practical tips to help people unplug.

No matter your niche, June gives you opportunities to be relevant, human, and helpful. Mix in some fun, education, and values-driven content to keep your audience engaged and your brand top of mind.
